Sequatchie Co. Reports Injuries and Homes Destroyed from Storm

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- In Sequatchie county, authorities report injuries and more than a dozen homes destroyed.

No one was seriously injured, but 4 people were sent to the hospital after their mobile home was picked up by the storm and dropped in the road.

More than 100 emergency officials are out doing storm clean up, so everyone is being asked to avoid the heavily damaged areas.

“We know this is something that is not seen in this area a lot lot of people want to see what’s going on but if they would please stay out of the area it makes it hard for us to do out job also we have had reports of people trying to loot already if you get caught on somebody’s property and it don’t belong to you and you are not family and been invited you will be prosecuted from this point on,” said Ronnie Hitchcock who is the Sequatchie Co. Sheriff.

There is a shelter open for anyone who has been displaced by the storm at the Sequatchie county rescue squad.
