Several areas near Tellico Plains forced to evacuate due to 50 acre wildfire

MONROE COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) —  Several areas have been asked to evacuate after a wildfire has spread across 50 acres in Tellico Plains.

The areas being asked to evacuate include:

  • Rafter Road
  • Lake Heights Road
  • Highway 360
  • Smokey Run Road to Center Presbyterian Church

According to Monroe County Mayor Mitch Ingram, a fire was reported on Highway 360 shortly after 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2025.

Due to hind winds and an unstable environment, the fire began to spread.

The Tennessee fire tracking website states as of 3:37 p.m., the fire size is at 50 acres and zero percent contained.

According to WVLT, 14 structures have been threatened, prompting the evacuation, but none of those structures have been impacted.

No injuries have been reported so far.
