Several families displaced after Marina Pointe apartment fire
HIXSON, Tenn. (WDEF) – On Sunday, at 7:22 PM the Chattanooga Fire Department (CFD) responded to the Marina Pointe Apartments at 5750 Lake Resort Drive after 911 received reports of smoke coming from the roof of one building in the complex.
According to CFD, a lightning strike is believed to be the cause of an apartment fire.
They say first responders worked together with residents to evacuate the building as CFD began their operations.
A second alarm was called to bring additional resources to the scene.
CFD says once the fire was extinguished, they began salvaging belongings from apartments on lower floors and placing tarps on furniture and other items to protect as much property as possible from water damage.
There were no injuries to citizens or firefighters.
As of the time of this news release, at least three to four families were displaced.
