Shepherd Community celebrates its 50th annual fun day
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The Shepherd Community celebrated its 50th annual Fun Day with a car parade followed by a community picnic.
During the event, community leaders honored Malcolm Walker for his dedication and service to the neighborhood.
Organizers recognized his contributions spanning five decades.
We asked a member of the Shepherd Community Council, who has served since 1972, what the annual event means to her.
“I was one of the people who helped form this 50 years ago. We were creating programs that would benefit the neighborhood and the people who live here. It has continued nonstop from that time until now.”
Ivy Strickland, president of the Shepherd Community Council, stated that the event has always focused on creating positive experiences and strengthening relationships throughout the community.
Organizers said they look forward to welcoming residents back for next year’s celebration.
