Sheriff’s Office reports inmate death from Covid complications
HAMILTON COUNTY, Tennessee (WDEF) – The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office reports an inmate has died after giving birth.
They say 30 year old Morghan Jean Elmore was arrested more than two weeks ago.
She was taken to the hospital on August 21st.
Officials say she died from apparent Covid complications.
The family says she gave birth before dying and the child is in state custody.
Since the case is considered an in-custody death, the Criminal Investigation Division will conduct an investigation.
