Sheriff’s Office works out understanding with The Signal
They were concerned that two of their deputies were turned away for wearing guns to an off-duty security detail at a prom
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Chief Deputy Austin Garrett says he has talked to management of The Signal about the prom security situation Friday night.
He says the owner told him that their insurance requires them not to allow any guns inside the venue, whether it is security or not.
They agreed that in the next school event, they will work out a security plan before hand.
Chief Deputy Garrett issued this statement:
“The HCSO recognizes the Signal’s continued support of our local law enforcement and we understand they have the right to enact certain rules and guidelines at their establishment. While there are some who are upset by their actions Friday night, I would encourage our community to be understanding and have grace as we recognize their rights, liabilities and the restrictions placed on them by their insurance.”
