EAST RIDGE, Tenn. (WDEF) — A real estate development group has a redevelopment planned for East Ridge. Urban Story Ventures announced on Wednesday they recently purchased a 13-acre shopping center.

The property at 3715 Ringgold Road includes a former Food City, five retail outlet buildings and parking. Currently, several food and beverage businesses, boutiques and professional services occupy some of these units.

Urban Story Ventures said they plan to fill the available spaces with retail, medical offices and office tenants.

“We’re excited to collaborate with elected officials in East Ridge as we move forward with our plans to revitalize this up-and-coming area,” said Jimmy White, president and managing partner of Urban Story Ventures.

White said construction will include renovating suites and new construction as well. Developers and construction partners are currently planning by identifying needs.

Developers explained their plan is to meet the needs of the East Ridge community.

“This will be a significant project for us and will be a larger scale version of our most recent retail redevelopment on Hixson Pike,” said White. “We turned a mostly vacant and tired, old grocery store complex into a revived retail hub with a mix of local and national tenants.”
