Signal Mountain Fire and Police open house

SIGNAL MOUNTAIN, Tennessee (WDEF)- Families had a day out interacting with law enforcement and the fire department, at Signal Mountain, this weekend.

“We’re happy to do it this year. We haven’t been able to do it the last two years because of Covid. It’s our opportunity, showcase what we do and some of our partners,” said Signal Mountain Fire Chief Eric Mitchell.

Kids were given a chance to spray out house fires.

They say these types of events allow families to have a safe place to have fun and allows the community to better get to know the people who serve and protect their community.

“We try to be as proactive as we can but we mostly react to 911 calls. This is our opportunity to interact with the community in a good positive way,” said Mitchell.

“Let folks see the other side of us on a personal level. Not on a call, not out, just out here having a good time,” said Signal Mountain Police Chief Mike Williams.
