Siskin Hospital holds annual ‘Possibilities’ luncheon
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Siskin Hospital hosted their annual “Possibilities” luncheon Wednesday at the Chattanooga Convention Center.
“The event is all about hope. Hope beyond disability, hope after a traumatic event. We treat brain injury patients, spinal cord patients, stroke patients and patients that have had some type of catastrophic, unexpected event,” said Dr. Matthew Gibson, CEO of Siskin Hospital.
Attendees were given the chance to listen to inspiring stories from previous patients.
Dr. Gibson says the hospital gives folks another chance of life.
“Life is not over. If you get the right care and you get the right healing treatment at a place like Siskin Hospital, there can be life again,” said Dr. Gibson. “You can have your life back and that is not always obvious right when you have a traumatic event.”
According to Siskin Hospital, they are the only nonprofit, physical rehabilitation hospital in Tennessee.
Retired Command Sgt. Major Gretchen Evans, who suffered a traumatic brain injury, says the power of “YES” to rehab will open opportunities for healing.
“When you say yes to things, that opens doors, and it brings collaboration. Whenever you say no, that is an automatic door shattering and conversation stops,” said Evans. “We all need to come together and find a way that we can say yes to support Siskin Rehabilitation Hospital.”
Siskin Hospital’s mission is to return patients to a healthy and productive life as soon as possible.
Evans says Siskin is a place where people are cared for and their physical well-being is restored.
“They have a place where they can go to that is safe right here. They can go and get better, and not only get better, but then also get back to their lives with all the necessary tools they need to live their best life,” Evans concluded.
Proceeds from the luncheon will go toward Siskin’s scholarship fund.
The money will be used to support men and women who cannot afford physical rehab care.
