Sixteen Year Old Sought in Clerk Slaying
Chattanooga police, along with TBI, are looking for a teenager who is considered armed and dangerous.
The suspect is a 16 year old male—Deuntray Kellogg.
His name and photo are being distributed by TBI to police organizations all over the state.
It was around 9:45 Monday morning when the body of 51 year old Wonsik No..who owned the New East Side Market on 4th avenue, was found shot to death in the store.
The incident is described as a robbery. Kellogg’s name came up quickly, but he has not been found.
CHIEF FRED FLETCHER, CPD "We received information from the community …that helped us identify this criminal and file charges. This is another example of community relationships..and the Chattanooga community not accepting this violence and holding people accountable for their behavior."
Police took the unusual step of calling for help from the TBI, before Kellogg’s name was released in Chattanooga. TBI added a 1000-dollar reward for his capture.
It’s not the usual way a crime committed by a juvenile is handled.
CHIEF FRED FLETCHER, CPD "Judge Philyaw of Juvenile court agrees with us ..that this fugitive is a threat to our community and approved the release of his name and his image."
Kellogg has local connections, and may have stayed at East Lake courts for a time.
CHIEF FRED FLETCHER "There is certainly a possibility that he spent time there. The scene of the crime is very near there..and he was seen moving through East Lake courts…that’s an absolute possibility."
The chief says there’s also a possibility of gang connection. And he’s concerned that other people may be helping Kellogg.
CHIEF FLETCHER "If you are helping Mr.Kellogg evade justice, you could be violating the law…and we will file charges against you in a criminal action."
Kellogg is African-American. He is 5’9 and weights 160 pounds.
He’s charged with felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
