“Smart Is Cool” Day

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – This Sunday the Chattanooga Market hosted STEM organizations in celebration of the 24th annual National “Smart is Cool” Day.

STEM, which stands for science, technology, engineering, and math, focuses on logical thought processes and problem-solving that allows students to develop mental habits that will help them succeed in any field.

The Market hosted several outside organizations wanting to engage with the community including The Barnard Astronomical Society, American Chemical Society, Dalton Animal Care, The Hanger Clinic, The Chattanooga State Community College Physical Therapist Assistant Program and other various organizations from UTC.

Attendees for this event were able to gain access into some of STEM’s most interesting and interactive topics.

Some of the topics that people could learn about were rocks, fossils, and more with the geologists, space and rockets with astronomers, riding bikes to provide power, and even a pumpkin experiment for the holiday season.

The event was put on to showcase to kids and adults the importance of STEM topics and just how interesting and fun they really can be.
