SNAP Cuts Impact Food Access
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The Congressional District Health Dashboard has released updated data showing SNAP participation by congressional districts across the United States.
The dashboard now allows users to track SNAP enrollment trends over time, including quarterly changes, alongside other health and economic indicators.
The tool is designed to give a clearer view of how participation in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program changes at the local level.
In a separate analysis, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation says recent federal policy changes may be affecting nutrition assistance programs.
The foundation says those changes could affect access to food support, particularly in rural communities.
It also says there could be ripple effects for food banks, local grocers, and other community organizations that rely on federal nutrition funding.
According to the foundation, SNAP benefits play a role in helping families afford food while also supporting local economies.
