Soddy Daisy helps flood victims in Northwest Tennessee

SODDY DAISY, Tenn. (WDEF)- Community Members in Soddy-Daisy are coming together to provide aid to folks in Northeast Tennessee. 

 “We now have two tractor trailer loads, big flatbed load, five cargo trailers and Cash that we are going to be going to Newport, Tennessee in the morning,” said Hamilton County Commissioner Gene-o Shipley 

 They have collected these items and more to help victims that were impacted by Hurricane Helene. 

 Other Items collected were nonperishable food, toiletries, blankets, and clothes. 

 Hamilton County Commissioner Geneo Shipley believes they can help thousands of Helene victims. 

 “The People has just come out, this whole area around Soddy Daisy, to fill these trucks to the help,” said Shipley. “A lot of volunteers here just working and it has really been successful for 1 week to raise this much goods and money.”  

 Shipley says this generosity is what it means to be from Soddy Daisy.

 “We have a loving community that wants to help other people. It has always been that way, even though our city grew through the years, there are still loving families here that I want to be a part of helping anyone anytime,” said Shipley. 

 As Millions of people still recovering from storm damage in Tennessee, Florida, and in the Carolinas. 

 Shipley says its important to come together and help those in need. 

 “It just makes you even prouder to know that people here love people everywhere, are well and take their hard earn money and give it to other people to help them in a time of need,’ Shipley concluded.
