Southern Adventist University helps unearth A pair of the top Biblical archaeology discoveries of 2015
Every year lists ranking the top Biblical Archaeology finds are released, and this year Southern Adventist University cracked the list twice….
Micahel G. Hasel Director of the institute of Archaeology at University said "One of the top finds was an inscription that we actually discovered in 2013 but was just recently published in 2015 in May of this last year, and that was an inscription on a large storage jar mentioning the name Eshba’al. This is one of the oldest Hebrew inscriptions ever found in history."
And they made the other discovery in 2014. It was a piece of jar with writing on it in ink.
Hasel went on to say"It allows us to see how the development of the alphabet took place in transitioning from Canaanite to Hebrew to what we are still writing with today as it morphed into Phoenician Greek and our Latin alphabet today."
At the dig site in Israel, many of the participants from Southern Adventist are students who put in a lot of time and work …
"It is very extensive and time consuming and pain staking. We work very carefully through the materials. We collect everything. We find thousands and thousands of pieces of pottery every single season maybe 30…40 thousand pieces, so to find one with an inscription on it is something amazing" said Hasel.
Even though Southern Adventist helped to discover the artifacts, they will stay in Israel as property of the state.
