Special Election Today in North Georgia Mountains

Voters will pick replacement for Representative David Ralston

BLUE RIDGE, Georgia (WDEF) – Five candidates are on the ballot for a special election in north Georgia on Tuesday.

They are running to replace Blue Ridge Representative David Ralston, who died in November.

The candidates include his widow, Sheree Ralston, who has been endorsed by the Governor.

The other candidates are Johnny Chastain, Justin Heitman, Brian Pritchard and Richie Stone.

The election is for the Georgia House District seven which includes Fannin, Gilmer and part of Dawson Counties.

Rep. Jon Burns has already been chosen to replace Ralston as House Speaker.

The winner of this election will represent the counties in the Georgia legislature.

The polls are open from 7-7.
