Spillers Being Held Without Bond in Georgia

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – More information is coming out on a Hamilton County man accused of numerous sex crimes in Georgia.

Thirty-four-year-old Dustin Spillers was arrested on Monday in Hamilton County according to the Troup County Jail in Georgia.

Spillers lives in Ooltewah, but these charges are from the LaGrange area just outside of the Atlanta area.

He is being charged in Georgia with child molestation and aggravated sexual battery.

According to an incident report that News 12 obtained from the Troup County Sheriff’s Office, they first were tipped off into this investigation on December 23, 2022. This was due to a referral from the Georgia Division of Family and Children’s Services in reference to a “incident” that occurred inside of Troup County.

The Troup County Sheriff’s Office is still continuing their investigation.

Within the incident report, the report lists Spillers as an offender under Georgia State Code 16-4-4. Under that penal code, a conviction of a first-time offender for child molestation would be 5-20 years in prison.

A second conviction under that statute would result in 10-30 years in prison and possibly life in prison. Additionally, a conviction under aggravated child molestation would result in 25 years to life in prison.

A conviction under sexual battery in Georgia with a minor under 16 years old is a felony and tags on an additional one to five years in prison.

In the report, there are two victims listed, two young males aged 8 and 10 years old.

This is the extent of the details shared by the Troup County Sheriff’s Office, who have not disclosed information on exactly when the incidents occurred or the nature of them.

Back here in the Tennessee Valley, Spillers was involved in several local organizations over the past 15 years.

He was most recently the PTA President at Wolftever Creek Elementary School in Ooltewah.

According to a letter released by Principal Gail Huffstutler, she states in part that Spillers resigned on January 2-nd and has not stepped back on campus since his resignation.

Huffstutler also says that the allegations against Spillers do not appear to have any connection to the school at this time.

Additionally, Spillers at one point was a youth volunteer at Abba’s House in Hixson.

News 12 spoke with some former youth students privately, who were shocked to learn of the allegations against Spillers saying he didn’t seem capable of doing such an act.

Abba’s House released a statement saying that Spillers was no longer a member of the church and hadn’t been there in several years.

He was never a paid employee there according to the church and was praying for all of the alleged victims in the case.

According to the Troup County Jail, Spillers currently is being held there in LaGrange without bond and has four charges listed: three child molestation and one aggravated sexual battery charge.

A court date has not been listed in Troup County.
