St. Chatty’s Parade celebration
It’s the fourth annual St. Patrick’s Parade taking place in downtown Chattanooga.
Hundreds turned out, dressed in green, on this bright, sunny day to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.
The parade walked over the Market Street Bridge and ended at Coolidge Park.
Local organizations, community groups and marching bands signed up to celebrate the holiday.
Participation is open to everyone and this year the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile joined in.
Kids on the Block Organizer, Kelly Lowry says, “We do hope that it brings business to downtown Chattanooga and the Frazier Avenue and 100% of the proceeds do benefit Chattanooga Kids on the Block.”
Organizers say participation has more than doubled for this year.
Another non-profit, who participated in today’s event, work with cats and dogs.
The McKamey Animal Center contracts with the City of Chattanooga in animal control.
McKamey Animal Center Volunteer Coordinator, Karen Wilson says, “We have close to 6,000 animals that come through our doors every year and most of those animals are put up for adoption. We need to find them great homes.”
The Fireman’s Fountain, located in front of the courthouse, was even dyed green this year.
Many partygoers ended their day at ‘Party on the Parkway’ block party that lasted until midnight.
100% of the proceeds from there will benefit Kids on the Block and SoundCorps.
