Standoff suspect in Ringgold told police he was attempting Suicide by Cop

RINGGOLD, Georgia (WDEF) – Ringgold Police say the suspect in a SWAT standoff this morning wanted officers to shoot him.

Officers responded to an armed robbery call at the RaceTrac on Battlefield Parkway at the I-75 exit.

Customers say 55 year old Kenneth Anthony Dugger came in the store gesturing like he had a gun.

He ordered everyone out of the store and barricaded himself in.

Ringgold and Catoosa County officers called for the Georgia State Patrol SWAT team, which was training nearby.

Eventually, SWAT officers entered the store and found the suspect.

They say he lunged at them with an object in his hand, making aggressive movements at the officers.

But they determined he did not actually have a weapon, and took him into custody without incident.

The Ringgold Chief says he wanted to commit “Suicide by Cop.”

Dugger faces charges of Armed Robbery and Felony Obstruction of law enforcement officers.
