Step Aboard History: Explore the Niña and Pinta Replicas in Chattanooga
It’s one thing to learn about Christopher Columbus in your history books, but what if you could get up close and personal with his ships? The Niña and Pinta replicas are here in Chattanooga, welcoming visitors to experience history firsthand.
“Here we have an accurate replica of what the famous explorer Christopher Columbus used back in 1492 to connect Europe with the Americas. These were the first Portuguese caravels that Columbus chose to cross the ocean over five hundred twenty years ago,” said Stephen Sanger.
From hands-on activities to guided tours, children can experience life as a sailor, learning about navigation, shipbuilding, and the challenges faced on long voyages. “That’s how it all started. We’ve really gained popularity, and it serves as an excellent educational tool for everyone, especially kids, since they learn about this in school. Being able to come on board and touch and feel history is important,” said Captain Sanger.
