Step Up program

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Some Hamilton County High School students now have some real world experience.

That’s thanks to the Step Up program.

As part of that program, the students worked at area businesses as paid interns over the summer.

The Public Education Foundation and the Hamilton County Department of Education launched it back in January.

Organizers honored the students and the companies who provided the jobs at a luncheon.

The Step Up program helps juniors and seniors at public schools in Hamilton County.

It targets students from low income backgrounds, and those at risk of joblessness.
