Store Manager Charged with Faking Robbery

Fort Payne, AL (WDEF) – The manager of a Burke’s Outlet store in Fort Payne has been charged with robbery.

Detective Mike Grant says she called Fort Payne police on Sunday afternoon to report a hold up while she was making a bank deposit.

She said a man ran up to her car’s window at a stop sign, pulled a knife and demanded the money.

Unfortunately for her, this happened in front of a surveillance camera from another building.

Investigators say the video shows her pulling up, but there was no robber.

She just waits for police to arrive.

33 year old Heather Dawn Swearengin from Fyffe faces a theft charge, plus another one for filing a false report.
