Storm Hits Grundy County Overnight

GRUNDY COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) – Severe storms swept through Grundy County last night, leaving a trail of destruction. High winds and heavy rainfall caused significant damage across the area, affecting homes, infrastructure, and public spaces.

Numerous trees were uprooted, obstructing major roadways and residential streets. Fallen power lines have resulted in widespread outages, leaving many residents without electricity.

Emergency crews have been working tirelessly to clear debris and restore power to the affected areas.

Public parks, including a baseball field off of Fairground Street, suffered extensive damage, including an entire dugout missing from where it once stood.

It’s still unclear whether the damage was caused solely by strong straight-line winds or if a tornado may have touched down in the area.

The National Weather Service is currently investigating and will determine the official cause in the coming days.

In the meantime, residents are encouraged to check on neighbors, especially the elderly and those with medical conditions.

As Grundy County begins the recovery process, community members are coming together to support one another.

We’ll continue to provide the latest information as it becomes available. Stay safe
