String of wrecks this morning around Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – The weather was fine. The traffic wasn’t bad. So why were there so many bad wrecks on the side streets of Chattanooga this morning?

A woman ran into a power pole this morning on North Hawthorne.

Residents thought the driver was ejected into the yard of a home, but it turned out she got out of the car on her own.

She was taken to the hospital.

Just minutes later, a motorcycle collided with a vehicle at E.31st Street and 12th Avenue.

Traffic investigators say the motorcyclist was apparently speeding through the neighborhood and the vehicle was just trying to avoid him.

The biker suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

And at the same time, police were evacuating the Hardees in Lookout Valley because of a gas leak.

The leak was caused by another wreck that pushed one of the cars up against the building, hitting their gas line.
