Strong pitching leads Walker Valley over Soddy Daisy, 1-0
BRADLEY COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — In the District 5-AAA double elimination round, Walker Valley baseball withstood Soddy Daisy thanks to two strong pitchers on the mound.
Ethan Hailey commanded most of the game, throwing a no-hitter through five innings, then Jordan Munck came in to finish the game in the sixth. He struck out his first batter then helped turn a 1-6-3 double play to end the Trojans’ scoring attempt.
Walker Valley scored in the third off back-to-back doubles from Kevin Bowerman and Kolten Gibson at the top of the order. Mustangs kept the 1-0 lead through all seven innings.
With Walker Valley’s win, they force Soddy Daisy to a third, tie-breaking game Monday night. The winner then plays Bradley Central for the district title.
