Student stabbed at Ider school in Alabama

IDER, Alabama (WDEF) – A fight Wednesday morning at Ider school resulted in one student being stabbed.

Sheriff’s officers report that the argument broke out in the gym between two juveniles.

The injured student was treated by the nurse and turned over to the parents.

The other student was detained by the School Resource Officer and sent to the juvenile probation office in Fort Payne.

Dekalb County Sheriff’s officers are investigating the case and will turn over results to the school system.

Sheriff Jimmy Harris says “This is a scary situation to happen at one of our schools. We are glad that the incident was handled quickly and with no other incident. We are thankful to have SRO’s in all of our school in the County and we are also glad that the juvenile is expected to be okay.”
