Summer Gas Prices Drive Savings

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – If you’re thinking about hitting the road this summer, you’re not alone, and this year, you might not feel quite as much pain at the pump.

A new forecast from GasBuddy shows gas prices are expected to drop just in time for the summer travel season.

Experts say it could be the cheapest summer to fill up in several years, giving travelers a much-needed break amid lingering economic uncertainty.

But instead of cutting back on plans, many Americans are getting more strategic with their spending.

Drivers are using fuel-saving apps, comparing prices along their routes, and even going a little out of their way to save a few bucks on gas.

And while travel plans may look a little different for everyone, road trips are definitely still in the mix.

Many families are planning multiple trips this year, with some expected to drive five hours or more to reach their destination.

Holiday weekends will be especially busy, with Memorial Day leading the charge. Some travelers are already locking in plans, while others are holding out for last-minute deals.

So, whether it’s the beach, the mountains, or somewhere in between, lower gas prices could help stretch your summer travel budget a little farther this year.
