Suspect arrested in connection to 2015 arson
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Chattanooga PD arrested a man they suspect committed arson in April, 2015.
CPD arrested Jason Mayberry, 35, Friday after nearly a year of investigation into a suspicious house fire on Andy Thomas Rd.
According to an affidavit obtained by News 12 Now, Mayberry was seen standing near the fire on the night of April 4, 2015. The report states that Mayberry seemed nervous and immediately left the scene when witnesses called 911.
After police arrived at the home, Mayberry returned to the scene and was questioned. Mayberry reportedly stated to police that he did not know anything about the fire, but had come to check on relatives that live behind the home.
When police reviewed the 911 calls, they could hear a male voice which they identified as Mayberry’s in the background stating that “they wouldn’t let us burn during the day.”
Police issued a warrant for Mayberry’s arrest and quickly detained the suspect.
He is currently being held on $50,000 bond.
