Suspect charged in Charleston holdup

Kenneth Boyd faces both robbery and kidnapping charges from incident

CHARLESTON, Tennessee (WDEF) – Bradley County investigators have charged a suspect in a violent holdup Thursday of a gas station.

It happened at the BP fuel station on Hiwassee Street in Charleston around 1 PM.

The Sheriff says a man wearing a mask produced a handgun.

He says the robber assaulted the clerk and tried to keep the clerk from escaping.

The robber got away.

But detectives identified the weapon as an air soft pistol and connected forensic evidence at the scene to 29 year old Kenneth Boyd.

They arrested him around 11 PM.

Boyd faces charges of Attempted Aggravated Robbery and Aggravated Kidnapping.
