CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Chattanooga Police officers shot a suspect overnight after responding to a “suspicious person” call.

It happened just after midnight in the 5200 block of Central Avenue.

A CPD release says that during their interaction with the suspect, “shots were fired by law enforcement.”

The suspect was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

The officers involved had been put on administrative leave, which is usual policy in an officer involved shooting.

We don’t have an update on their condition since then.

The Hamilton County District Attorney’s Office has assigned the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office to investigate.

It may be awhile before any more information on the shooting is released.

It took the three agencies nearly three weeks to release even the name of the victim in the last officer involved shooting by Chattanooga Police.

If you have any more information on the shooting, please contact the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
