Suspect flees scene after shooting woman during domestic dispute

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – A woman is being treated at a local hospital after being struck by gunfire during a domestic dispute.

The Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) says they are investigating a domestic-related shooting that occurred on July 16, 2026 just prior to 2:00 a.m. at a residence on Hawkins Oak Lane.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult female with a gunshot wound.

She was taken to a local hospital by Hamilton County EMS for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury.

The preliminary investigation determined the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute between the victim and suspect.

CPD says during the encounter, the suspect discharged a firearm, striking the victim.

They say the suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.
