Suspect in gunfire exchange with police turns himself in
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Surrounded by a heavy police presence, a suspect turned himself in to authorities this afternoon.
34 year old Curtis Brown was the subject of a major search in the early morning hours of Monday after police say he exchanged gunfire with officers.
They say he was walking down Glass Street with a gun when someone called 911 to report him.
When officers arrived, both the suspect and police fired shots at each other.
Police didn’t think anyone was hit.
But Brown showed up at the police center with two gunshot injuries.
A pastor says he was shot once in the foot and then grazed in the back.
Police sent him immediately to the hospital to be treated for the wounds.
The pastor served as an intermediary between the suspect and police so he would turn himself in peacefully.
