Suspect in high speed chase charged with drug trafficking

VARNELL, Georgia (WDEF) – Authorities in North Georgia say a suspect who lead them on a high speed chase Tuesday night was also a drug dealer.

It started when a Varnell Police officer used a license plate scanner on a motorcycle speeding on SR 201.

The scanner showed the driver had no valid insurance and a suspended tag.

The chase ran through Tunnel Hill, onto I 75 where he hit 120 miles an hour.

It ended when the bike clipped a guard rail exiting onto Highway 41 at Ringgold.

He was taken to the hospital with a broken leg.

Officers found a variety of drugs on the driver.

They are charging him with trafficking meth, heroin, marijuana and liquid hydrocodone.
