HIXSON, Tenn. (WDEF) – A pursuit by the Tennessee Highway Patrol ends at a location in Hixson with a suspect dead.

That’s the word tonight from Lt. John Harmon of the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Earlier a state trooper made a traffic stop at 153 and Highway 27 northbound on the ramp. The vehicle was pulled over for not having its tags displayed. The vehicle did stop, and a drivers license came back as a revoked license.

The driver then resisted arrest and fled in the vehicle. The trooper pursued at low speeds to the Middle Valley area, where the driver stopped for a second time at the 7000 block of Valley Lane.

Preliminary reports say the driver of the vehicle drew a weapon, and shots were fired.

The suspect is deceased at this time.

The trooper is uninjured, and on paid administrative leave, which is protocol.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office will be the lead investigating agency, per request by the District Attorney.

The names of the trooper and the suspect are not being released at this time.

The investigation is ongoing, and more information will be released once it becomes available.
