Suspect returns to north Alabama for Sand Mountain murder

FORT PAYNE, Alabama (WDEF) – A suspect in a Sand Mountain shooting has finally returned to DeKalb County.

Back in December, a victim was shot at a home on Short Cut Drive in Henegar.

DeKalb Sheriff’s investigators obtained a murder warrant for Mark Shane Tucker of Flat Rock in the case.

But he fled.

Then in February, DeKalb investigators learned that Tucker has been arrested in Louisiana on other charges.

He has now been extradited back to Alabama.

Sheriff Jimmy Harris says “the Investigators have put in long hours on this case, and has done a great job on the investigation. We are also glad that we have Tucker in custody.”
