Suspect turns herself in for death of pedestrian last weekend

UPDATE: Attorney McCracken Poston offers more information on the case. He says Sarah Barrett, from Rock Springs, Georgia, is his client.

He says she thought she had hit a deer sometime before dawn.

Poston says she called police on the same day and handed her vehicle over to investigators for inspection on Monday.

He says she called him after her husband told her of news reports that a person had been killed.

“Many questions remain about the man and why he stepped or leapt into her path on the darkened roadway, near the Vulcan facility before sunrise.”

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Chattanooga Police have arrested a suspect in the death of a pedestrian Saturday on Shallowford Road.

55 year old Paul Thompson was struck and killed by a vehicle in the 5900 block near Highway 153 just after noon.

When officers arrived, they only found the victim lying unconscious.

But there were broken vehicle parts that indicated he had been hit.

Traffic investigators got warrants for 49 year old Sarah Barrett.

She turned herself in to the Silverdale Detention Center.
