SUV swerves to avoid car, crashes, killing 2-year-old girl

ATLANTA (AP) – Authorities say a single-vehicle crash near Atlanta killed a 2-year-old girl and critically injured her 5-month-old sister.

Clayton County police Sgt. Ashanti Marbury tells news outlets that a sedan with a New York tag swerved into the path of a family’s SUV on Sunday. Marbury says the SUV driver swerved to avoid a collision and then overcorrecting, sending the vehicle into a barrel roll.

The sedan continued on Interstate 75 without stopping.

Marbury says the toddler died at the scene. The infant is in critical condition at a hospital. The parents and 4-year-old girl were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Their identities have not been released.
