SVEC announces faster internet for the Sequatchie Valley
DUNLAP, Tennessee (WDEF) – In the year 2018, most of us take reliable internet service for granted.
That’s not the case for many in rural areas.
That’s why a news conference in Jasper in Marion county, drew a big crowd.
Sequatchee Valley Electric Co-Op announced that it will launch a major expansion of broadband throughout the area.
The new service is especially important to students.
Marion County High student Kaithlyn Munn addressed the crowd.
“With having inconsistent internet and bad cell reception, it’s really hard to get an internet service to do this homework. An assignment that should only take about thirty minutes could sometimes take an hour and a half to two hours to do which, takes a lot of time after afternoons.”
It’s a big job, and the electric co-op says it may takes months to roll-out the entire broadband system.
