Barricaded suspect arrested by Chattanooga SWAT

UPDATE:

Chattanooga Police said a woman called 911, claiming she was assaulted by her brother.

The suspect was Dwight Land, 52, who punched his sister in the shoulder and accused her of theft, according to police.

After the victim called the police, they said Land fled to a camper behind a nearby home.

The CPD said Land refused to come out of the camper, and that he was armed with a machete.

After several attempts, officers took Land into custody. Police said he was arrested for domestic assault. He also had prior warrants on aggravated burglary.

Chattanooga Police first received the call shortly after 3 p.m.

It was late Monday night when police finally arrested Land.


EARLIER:

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — A domestic dispute turned into a suspect barricading himself, Chattanooga Police said. SWAT responded to the scene as well.

The incident is ongoing on the 3900 block of Memphis Drive.

Police said the man is refusing to surrender.

CPD said they are trying to negotiate with the suspect.

As of 7 p.m., there has been no update.
