Taconooga suddenly closes on Chattanooga northshore
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- A longtime Northshore restaurant has suddenly closed its doors.
Taconooga announced on its Facebook page it was closing after 12 years this Friday afternoon on Frazier Avenue.
We saw an employee put a going out of business sign on their front doors.
The restaurant described itself as authentic Mexican street cuisine.
It was located in the same building as Artcreations, which shut down in early 2024 after five decades in business.
This building is the same one that was impacted in a fatal Thanksgiving weekend crash in 2023 that saw two pedestrians, a mother and baby, be killed when a car crashed into that building.
This led to significant changes to Frazier Avenue, which is now one lane each way with built in bike lanes and barriers following that crash.
It is also across the street from the Walnut Street Bridge, which has been shut down since March for renovations, and is not expected to reopen until fall 2026.
We have reached out to the owner to find out more about the closure.
