TBI crews work through the night on officer involoved shooting in Soddy Daisy

SODDY DAISY, Tennessee (WDEF) – The TBI has identified the man shot by law enforcement officers Tuesday night near Soddy Daisy.

29 year old Christopher Dalton Sexton was shot by multiple officers as he exited his vehicle following a chase.

It began around 5PM when a Hamilton County deputy attempted to stop him after seeing him violate a protection order.

He fled, and the deputy broke off the chase for safety concerns.

But later, other officers spotted him, creating a new chase through Hamilton, then Sequatchie and back into Hamilton County.

Officers forced his vehicle off the road as he turned onto Sequoyah Road around 7PM.

The TBI says he came out of his vehicle with a gun pointed at the officers.

Several opened fire on him.

The TBI has been asked to handle the investigation.

Their Violent Crimes Response Team and Forensic Scientists worked the scene overnight.
