UPDATE:
The Meigs County Sheriff says the call involved a woman who called to say her son was shooting a gun in the basement.
He had a history of mental illness and was off his medication.
The Sheriff says John Eaves, Jr. greeted the deputy at the door and said he had a gun in his pocket, then pulled it out and fired at the deputy.
The deputy returned fire, wounding Eaves.
Investigators found that he had been threatening his mother, so they are charging him with with attempted second degree murder and aggravated domestic assault.
