TBI releases numbers for officer-involved deaths in 2021

31 cases where police interaction resulted in a death last year in Tennessee

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (WDEF) – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has released a report on officer-involved fatalities in the state during 2021.

They say officers in Tennessee used deadly force 31 times last year.

11 of the cases happened in a home, while nine happened on roads and highways.

Of those who died during the police interactions, two thirds were white, while African Americans made up the other third.

The TBI is required to make the report by law.
