CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)-  The four people arrested two weeks ago at a Chattanooga motel connected to a Venezuelan gang in a human trafficking sting made their initial court appearance Wednesday morning.

Adelvis Rodriguez-Carmona was arrested on patronizing prostitution and multiple drug and firearm charges at the Serenity Suites Motel off of Shallowford Road according to Chattanooga Police.

He has a lengthy criminal history, and was facing deportation hearings earlier this year after arrests in Illinois and Wisconsin per a release from ICE.

The TBI says he is a member of Tren De Aragua, a prison gang from Venezuela.

The three women involved in the incident were also in court Wednesday morning.

However, Carmona was kept separate from the women in the proceedings due to the nature of the incident.

Hamilton County Judge Larry Ables commented that he was told, “As far as transport, there’s an issue about transporting them here and safety concerns, as far as the Sheriff’s Department informed me yesterday. I don’t know if there’s any validity to that, I’m just telling you we’re trying to get it done as quick as possible to get these people back.”

All four will be back in court in January for their preliminary hearings.
