TDH Warns E-Cigarette Users
The Tennessee Department of Health has petitioned the U-S Food and Drug Administration for regulation of electronic cigarettes.
Six months after issuing a public health advisory on the use of electronic cigarettes, the Tennessee Department of Health maintains it’s position.
The petition also includes similar electronic devices that produce emissions or vapor that contain much more than just water vapor.
The department says too many questions remain unanswered, and it’s time for consumers to have safeguards from potential health risks.
"While people say there’s water vapor, true, it is water vapor, but there’s so much more in those that we really don’t know exactly because the manufacturers aren’t regulated to put on the packaging exactly what’s in there and how much nicotine goes into it," says Kevin Lusk with Smoke Free Chattanooga.
The mission of the TDH is to protect, promote and improve the health and prosperity of people in Tennessee.
