TDOT says Phase I is complete at the I 24/75 Interchange

Phase II begins again in 18 months

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – TDOT officials say they have completed Phase I of the I 24/ 75 interchange project. The work ran from June 2019 through August.

Phase I included replacing 11 bridges, 17 retaining walls, a noise wall, lighting and paving. They say Phase One came in on time and under budget.

“The overwhelming success of this project was due in part to a well-defined project scope, timely communication efforts, and exceptional coordination at all levels.” said Commissioner Clay Bright. “TDOT continues to effectively utilize the design-build concept to expedite project delivery and streamline design processes.”

The funding to complete the job won’t be available until next year, so we shouldn’t expect to see construction resume until Spring of 2023.

So now the construction focus moves downtown for construction of the new entrance and exit system for I 24 at Highway 27, Broad and Markets Streets.
