TDOT will reopen one lane of Hwy 68 in Rhea County Saturday
SPRING CITY, Tennessee (WDEF) – There is finally some hope for a community cut off by a slide on Highway 68 in Rhea County.
The road up the mountain to Grand View from Spring City has been closed for weeks since the slide during rainy weather.
The bank has been unstable.
But now they are ready to reopen it again to light traffic.
“After assessing the work that has been done so far, it has been determined that the roadway is safe to be reopened to one lane for light traffic only, such as cars, pickup trucks and school buses.”
But no heavy commercial vehicles.
They will install a temporary traffic signal, but expect to wait awhile for your turn through the zone.
The reopening begins on Saturday morning.
TDOT crews will continue to stabilize the bank and repair the highway for a full reopening at a later date.
