TECH BYTE: Tech for Summer Travel
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — There’s still some time left before school starts back.
Why not take advantage, and go on a fun trip this summer?
There are some tech products you’ll want to bring with you.
According to the Vacationer, about 85 percent of American adults are planning to travel this summer.
Whether you’re road tripping or flying, don’t forget to pack all of your important gadgets.
This travel bundle power kit will help keep those devices running smoothly – with your chargers and cables organized all in one place.
“This is the first thing that I would be purchasing when I’m going to be traveling,” said Laurie Starcher, AT&T. “And the reason why, one, it’s so compact, OK? And it carries not only cords but chargers. They even have a charging bank, which I didn’t realize how necessary that is when you’re traveling. But unfortunately, whether it’s, you know, you’re on the road or you’re traveling by air, sometimes plans change and you might not be with that outlet that you thought you would have available. And so the power banks really make a huge difference.”
Starcher also recommends wireless earbuds.
“Everyone always needs a set of AirPods or Galaxy Buds because you want to have that privacy when you’re having the phone call that you need to take or just simply watching a movie. So that way you’re not interrupting anyone else that you’re sitting beside,” she said.
It’s important to not forget about all of those sentimental or high dollar items you’re leaving behind at home while on your trip.
Starcher says a Ring Doorbell is great for home security.
“That way you can actually still you receive maybe some Amazon Prime packages that are still coming in, right? But still also if there is anyone at your door, you have a view of it,” she said. “And it’s really nice to be able to have that right on your phone at any time to be able to view. So that’s one thing that we would do. And then I know for iPhones in itself, we do have ‘Find My iPhone.'”
Starcher says that app is an additional safety feature that can track your iPhone, so loved ones can know where you are while traveling – giving them peace of mind.
Starcher also recommends getting a waterproof case for your phone if you’re planning to visit a pool, beach, or lake on your trip.
