Tennessee bill would exempt schools and churches from ICE raids

NASHVILLE (WDEF) – A lawmaker is proposing a bill to create safe spaces in Tennessee from ICE.

It would exempt schools and churches from ICE agents unless they provide notice.

Democratic Representative Gabby Salinas from Memphis says she has several reports of ICE agents patrolling neighborhoods, schools and churches.

But her chances of passage are not good since Republicans hold a super majority in the legislature.

Tennessee lawmakers return to Nashville next week.
