Tennessee Division of Forestry and local fire personnel battle numerous fires
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The Tennessee Division of Forestry and local fire personnel started working a woods fire on Hotwater Road on Mowbray Mountain around noon Saturday.
Along with the Division of Forestry, the Mowbray VFD, the Sequoyah VFD, the Sale Creek VFD, the Soddy Daisy FD, the Dallas Bay VFD, and Chattanooga-Hamilton County Rescue worked to contain the fire.
Officials say that by 6pm, 10 acres were burning but the fire was contained. Forestry personnel will be monitoring the fire for the coming days and say that residents and motorists may notice the fire’s glow on the side of the mountain.
No injuries have been reported and the cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
Around 3:30 Saturday afternoon, another woods fire was reported off Littlebend Road on Signal Mountain. The Tennessee Forestry Division and Walden’s Ridge Emergency Services responded. The Division of Forestry is working to establish fire breaks.
Officials say 25 acres are burning and are not yet contained, but the Division of Forestry will work through the night to establish fire breaks. Officials also say that no structures are endangered, no injuries have been reported, and no cause has been determined yet.
