Hamilton County drivers remain below the state average

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (WDEF) – The Highway Safety Office today announced that more Tennesseans are buckling up than ever.

They cite their latest roadside survey report.

They post researchers at major intersections and write down what they see.

That’s a one and a half increase over last year and the best number on record.

A few of the trends they observed is that women do wear seat belts more than men.

S-U-V’s had the highest usage, while pickups had the lowest.

The lowest pickup truck rate in the state was in McMinn County at just 69%

Dyer County in West Tennessee had the worst seat belt rate at 87.5%, but Hamilton County was among the worst with an 89.4% average.
